Go eco-friendly with The Consortium

We're very keen to promote sustainable business and we try to help our customers do the same. On this page you can find out about ways that you can help reduce your impact on the environment.

Switch to electronic documents

Reduce paper waste and save paper

You can easily switch to having your invoices and statements sent to you by email instead of by post. Having documents emailed instead of posted saves paper and may help reduce C02 emissions since the requirement for mail deliveries is reduced. You may also find electronic documents easier to manage and generally more convenient, since they are sent instantly and are stored easily.

We will donate £1 to cancer research uk for every account that signs up for electronic documents.

Reduce paper waste and C02 emissions by ordering online

Reduce paper waste & C02 emissions: Order online

When you order by post or fax your order has to be typed into your computer, posted or faxed and then punched into one of our computers. At times there are errors or unreadable parts to the orders, so we have to contact you to confirm order details before processing. This is a long and wasteful process. By ordering online or by phone you know instantly whether a product is in or out of stock, you can correct errors straight away, view our latest products and changes (online) and track your order. You can also make changes to your account, have our latest deals emailed to you and much more.

Eco Friendly product ranges for schools and care homes

Switch to eco-friendly products

It's the little changes that add up to make a big difference. Just by changing some of the products you purchase regularly to eco-friendly alternatives you can be more environmentally friendly. Have you looked at our eco-friendly and recycled product range?

Eco Product highlight: Tru-Green envelopes

Tru-Green Envelopes

Tru-Green envelopes are made entirely from 100% recyclable and compostable materials: Not just the paper, but the sticky bit as well. What's more by buying Tru-Green envelopes you are helping support a poor area in India, where the Tru-Green envelopes are manufactured. And for every 200,000 envelopes sold, 7 trees are planted. Find out more about Tru-Green envelopes or go directly to the Tru-Green product page.

Printer cartridge recycling

Recycle your used inkjet and toner printer cartridges

We offer free provision of collection boxes and free collection of your used inkjet and toner cartridges. By recycling the cartridges fewer materials will go into landfill sites and less manufacturing of new cartridges is required, meaning you are helping reduce carbon emissions.

SIMS users: sign up to receive catalogue updates by email

By signing-up to receive your catalogue updates by email instead of having the CD's mailed to you, you are helping the environment by reducing manufacturing waste and delivery van carbon footprints.

To encourage this eco-friendly move we will donate £1 to Cancer Research for every one of our customers that signs up to receive SIMS catalogue updates by email instead of by post.

What's more, by having SIMS emailed to you, you don't have to wait for the CD to be delivered and you can have the latest updates emailed to you automatically so you don't have to remember to update.
